The 8th Annual Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics is now formally accepting submissions. Moreover, Nilah Magruder and Eric Wallace have now joined the choice committee, becoming a member of members together with Joseph Illidge, Jamal Igle, Colleen Doran, The Beat‘s own Heidi MacDonald, and other notable comics industry figures. The DWAYNE McDUFFIE AWARD for DIVERSITY in COMICS is now receiving submissions at [email protected] for this 8th annual prestigious  prize. The 2022 winner can be introduced December 1, 2023 in a digital awards’ ceremony presided over by returning MC, actor Phil LaMarr, who voiced each the heroes  Static/Virgil and John Stewart/Green Lantern in the animated Warner Bros.’ sequence Static Shock and Justice League Unlimited, written and produced by Mr. McDuffie.

2022 DMAD SELECTION COMMITTEE  

The 2022 Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics’ choice committee, led by trade legend, Marv Wolfman, consists of 11 outstanding comics and animation  professionals who personally knew and labored with Mr. McDuffie and/or have  demonstrated a critical dedication to his imaginative and prescient of excellence and inclusiveness on  the web page and behind the scenes. 

Colleen Doran is a cartoonist, author/artist whose works embrace writing/drawing Sensational Wonder Woman, the multi-award successful adaptation Neil Gaiman’s Snow, Glass, Apples, and artwork for The Sandman, The Vampire Diaries, The Clock, Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, The Walking Dead, and a whole bunch of different comics.
