U.Ok. road punk band the Chisel have been on the rise recently, and now they’ve introduced their first album for Pure Noise, What A Fucking Nightmare. It follows their 2021 debut LP, Retaliation, which initially got here out through La Vida Es Mus Discos and which Pure Noise re-released earlier this 12 months.
The Chisel — who share present and former members with Chubby and the Gang, Violent Reaction, Arms Race, and extra — make rabble-rousing punk anthems that ought to attraction to followers of something from Cock Sparrer to Rancid, and two songs from the brand new album are out now. The not too long ago launched lead single “Cry Your Eyes Out” is an earnest, catchy singalong that the band says takes inspiration from the Replacements, the Ramones, and Leatherface along with their regular road punk/Oi! influences, whereas the just-released “Fuck ‘Em” is a little angrier. It’s an 80-second rager that vocalist Cal Graham says is “about people who talk but don’t have much to say: gobshites and over-opinionated knobhead.” Check out the movies for each (by Sumo Crucial Productions and Nick Sucha, respectively) beneath.
The new album was produced by Jonah Falco of Fucked Up, who additionally labored on Retaliation, and recorded by John Atkinson. It comes out Feb. 9 through Pure Noise.
