If you have been following this man’s profession, like me, you will know that every so often he graces our TV screens in a job that begs the query, “How in the world could a person be this dreamy?”
You may keep in mind him because the daddy of the seven Sand Snakes, Prince Oberyn Martell — a smooth-talking, bisexual spearfighter in Game of Thrones.
Maybe you keep in mind his good-looking portrayal of American DEA agent Javier Peña who went to excessive measures to research Pablo Escobar and the Medellín drug cartel in Narcos.
Or maybe you caught a glimpse of the rugged man behind the masks — the surrogate daddy to the lovely Grogu, aka “Baby Yoda” in The Mandalorian.
But if you happen to’re a lifetime fan, like me, then perhaps you keep in mind a younger Pedro enjoying Greg, a feisty twenty-something in MTV’s after-hours present that I had completely no enterprise watching, Undressed (1999).
Now, the 47-year-old actor is again in his daddy-for-hire bag as Joel in HBO’s The Last of Us, based mostly on the online game of the identical identify.
But, as I made clear, whereas I do not neglect any Pedro Pascal TV look, it seems the person himself had a hilarious (and transient) reminiscence lapse when he forgot he landed his greatest function to this point.
While he was “in London and everyone else was in Los Angeles,” he obtained the scripts for the present. “[He] was told ‘Craig Mazin [the showrunner] wants you to read these scripts and if you like them, he’d like to talk to you.'”
“I loved Chernobyl, the miniseries he showran for HBO, it was unbelievable. Anyway, I read the first script and I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, I wanna meet him,'” Pedro confessed.
There was already an enormous time distinction, after which he was then requested to remain up a bit later to speak to Neil Druckmann, the creator of the online game, and he agreed.
Now, it was extremely late, and he needed to stand up early within the morning, so he took a sleeping tablet to assist him move out. But it was too late. Literally. Pedro says, “I get a call, and I get told that I got the job after I took the Ambien, and so I was excited, I guess, but I didn’t remember.”
“I woke up in the morning and the first thing that occurred to me was, ‘awww man, I really want that job. I’m in London, they’re in LA. I’m going to wait by the phone all day long. This hasn’t happened in awhile. I’m going to be thinking about this all day.”
But then, Pedro checked out his cellphone and observed all of the “congratulations” and “we’re so happy for you” messages from his crew. That’s when he lastly remembered, “Oh yeah, I got the job!”
Bless your coronary heart, Pedro. If you ever neglect any roles sooner or later, name me. I totally studied your filmography.
