“Are you happy?” a pregnant lady is requested in a new trailer for “Huesera: The Bone Woman.” Michelle Garza Cervera’s Tribeca winner tells the story of Valeria (Natalia Solián), a younger lady who claims to be “delighted” to expect her first baby. Inwardly, she’s in disaster. She’s cursed by “a sinister entity and plunged into a terrifying and dangerous world,” per the movie’s synopsis.
No one else appears to select up on the hazard Valeria going through. She’s informed that what’s taking place to her is “quite normal.” An older lady confides, “When you become a mother you feel like you are split in two.” But Valeria could also be in peril of really splitting in two.
“Huesera: The Bone Woman” made its world premiere on the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and landed Best New Narrative Director and Nora Ephron awards. You can catch it in theaters February 10 and on VOD February 16.
