The Nigerian singers Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Peter Okoye had their verification badges taken from the microblogging platform on Thursday.
Recall that Elon Musk, the proprietor of Twitter, had hinted at plans to commercialize verification tick in a tweet from March that included hyperlinks to affix the premium service.
He stated:-
”We will start winding down our legacy verified program and eradicating legacy verified checkmarks on the first of April. To maintain your blue checkmark, people can join Twitter Blue.”
Announcing the ultimate date for the free Blue badge removing on his verified Twitter deal with, Elon Musk wrote: “Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20.”
The removing of the Legacy Blue Tick of the Nigerian superstars could also be related to the non-payment of their verification subscription price introduced by Musk.
