Antelope Don’t Run No More: Written after Inland Empire, the movie would have been set in Los Angeles and comprise “space aliens, talking animals, and a beleaguered musician named Pinky.” Lynch has been unable to safe funding for the project however there was hypothesis about Netflix funding the project.
-
Dream of the Bovine: According to co-writer Robert Engels, the movie would have been about “three guys, who used to be cows, living in Van Nuys and trying to assimilate their lives.” Harry Dean Stanton signed on for the project and Lynch tried to get Marlon Brando to star but the actor declined saying the script “pretentious bullshit.”
-
Gardenback: A short film about adultery, featuring a continually growing insect that represented one man’s lust for his neighbor. Lynch presented the script to the AFI but they rejected it.
-
The Metamorphosis: An adaptation of the 1915 Franz Kafka novella in which a salesman wakes up one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect. The project ran into budgetary concerns with trying to fulfill Lynch’s vision of the insect. Lynch ultimately abandoned the project as he thought Kaftka’s story worked better as a novella than a film.
-
One Saliva Bubble: A comedy starring Steve Martin & Martin Short. The film takes place in Newtonville, Kansas, where a secret government project goes amok resulting in the townsfolk switching bodies. A hitman switches places with a family man. A professor switches places with a dimwit. A black man switches places with a white woman and so on. Lynch was gearing up to shoot but the production company went bankrupt.
-
Ronnie Rocket: Originally set to be Lynch’s second film after Eraserhead, the project was never made due to lack of financial backing. The best way to describe the plot is to cite it’s description on Wikipedia:
The film’s plot would have told the story of a detective seeking to enter a mysterious second dimension, aided by his ability to stand on one leg. He is being obstructed on this quest by a strange landscape of odd rooms and a threatening train; while being stalked by the “Donut Men”, who wield electricity as a weapon. In addition to the detective’s story, the film was to show the tale of Ronald d’Arte, a teenage dwarf, who suffers a surgical mishap which leaves him dependent on being plugged into an electrical supply at regular intervals; this dependence grants him an affinity over electricity which he can use to produce music or cause destruction. The boy names himself Ronnie Rocket and becomes a rock star, befriending a tap-dancer named Electra-Cute.

Twin Peaks projects: During the making of Twin Peaks, Lynch considered making a spin-off film based on the character of Audrey Horne with Sherilyn Fenn reprising her role. Lynch also planned to make sequels to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me but were cancelled due to the original film’s poor box office.
-
Venus Descending: A movie about the life of Marilyn Monroe which was based on the book Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe by Anthony Summers. Lynch co-wrote the script with Mark Frost (who co-created Twin Peaks) which involved the previous few months of Monroe’s life earlier than her supposed assassination by Bobby Kennedy. The most fascinating facet of the project is that Monroe’s and Kennedy’s names had been modified for authorized causes (Rosilyn Ramsay & Phillip Malloy respectively). After a producer dropped out, Lynch left for different initiatives.
